PAVING THE WAY

E for Endometriosis is Singapore’s first accredited nonprofit organisation dedicated to raising awareness and providing support for individuals affected by Endometriosis. As changemakers in this field, the organisation’s slogan, "Paving the Way," reflects its pioneering role as the first to focus exclusively on Endometriosis in Singapore. By leading the charge, E for Endometriosis has created a dedicated platform for education, support, and advocacy, aiming to shift societal perceptions and improve care for those living with this condition.

Founded in 2012 and officially registered in 2017, E for Endometriosis began as a personal response to the challenges of navigating a healthcare system that lacked awareness of menstruation-related conditions. The organisation quickly evolved into a larger advocacy movement dedicated to transforming public understanding of Endometriosis. The name E for Endometriosis was intentionally chosen to symbolise the importance of nurturing societal learning, much like phonetics forms the basis for language learning. This movement encourages individuals to unlearn outdated notions and relearn scientifically accurate, compassionate perspectives on Endometriosis.

OUR VISION

To be Singapore's leading one-stop avenue for educating, advocating, supporting, and providing trusted pathways to address all matters related to Endometriosis.

THE THREE PRIMARY PURPOSES

Support Network for Patients and Caregivers:

E for Endometriosis provides a dedicated support network through the Singapore Endometriosis Support Group on Facebook. This platform serves as a safe and inclusive space for patients, caregivers, and individuals impacted by Endometriosis to share experiences, offer moral support, and exchange practical advice. The group has grown to over 2,000 members, creating a strong community that fosters connection and solidarity.

Educational and Awareness Programs:
Among the organization's most notable initiatives is the Wear Yellow SG EndoMarch event, which takes place annually during Endometriosis Awareness Month in March. This flagship event highlights the importance of spreading awareness and correcting misconceptions about the condition. The event includes medical professionals' talks, interviews with patients and/or caregivers, and personal testimonials that provide relatable insights into living with Endometriosis. By creating a platform for open dialogue, this event helps drive positive change in societal perceptions of the disease.

Resource Hub for Information and Guidance:
E for Endometriosis also serves as a trusted resource for those seeking information about the condition. Through quarterly live streams and accessible educational content, the organization offers guidance on treatment options, pain management, and mental health support. These live streams are made available on the E for Endometriosis YouTube channel, ensuring that patients can access the information at their convenience. Additionally, the organization curates a list of doctors specializing in Endometriosis, helping patients connect with the best care providers based on feedback and extensive research.

EMPOWERING THROUGH THE 'E'

The 'E' represents Empowerment, Embracing Change, and Encouraging Conversations about Endometriosis. It’s more than a symbol – it is a beacon of hope, resilience, and collective strength. This sign calls upon everyone to join the movement, challenge misconceptions, and raise awareness, driving a transformative dialogue to amplify the voices of those affected and pave the way for a future where Endometriosis is understood and supported.

The ‘E Symbol/Sign’ functions as a visual mascot intended to capture attention and generate interest. Its simplicity yet deep significance makes it a powerful tool in raising awareness. By encouraging the use of this symbol, the hope is to pique interest and create a ripple effect that helps make Endometriosis a widely recognized and understood condition.

Supporters are encouraged to help amplify this message by using the ‘E Symbol/Sign’ in their personal advocacy efforts. Whether through photos or videos, particularly in relation to Endometriosis awareness, individuals can use their right hand to form the letter ‘E’ and share their content along with the hashtags #e4endo or #eforendometriosis. This collective effort will contribute to making the symbol recognizable and synonymous with the movement, spreading awareness and building a sense of solidarity within the community.
