Recorded on 25 July 2026, this E for Endometriosis quarterly Zoom session featured Dr Steven Teo, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at STO+G Practice, in a patient-centred discussion on endometriosis and the many health conditions that may exist alongside it:
Endometriosis rarely affects only one part of a person’s life or body. Many patients experience overlapping symptoms involving the bowel, bladder, immune system, nervous system, pelvic floor and overall pain processing, which can make diagnosis and long-term care more complex.

During the session, Dr Teo explored:
What endometriosis truly is and how hormones, inflammation and immune activity may be involved
Why endometriosis is not classified as cancer despite its ability to grow, recur and affect surrounding organs
The possible roles of mast cells and histamine in symptoms such as allergies, hives, digestive issues and cyclical flares
Commonly associated and co-existing health conditions
How patients can recognise when a symptom may require separate investigation
Why pain and other symptoms may continue after hormonal treatment or surgery
The importance of more coordinated, whole-person care
Dr Steven Teo previously practised at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital and has a special interest in endometriosis, fertility care and advanced laparoscopic surgery.
This session formed part of E for Endometriosis’ free quarterly Zoom initiative, created to provide accessible education, encourage informed conversations and help patients and caregivers feel better supported in navigating care.
